Will Friedwald from the CitiView New York was one of the guests at Dianna’s opening night at the Café Carlyle last night, and he has now shared his review on their website! It supports all the other opinions we’ve heard from fans and other guests on social media today, and it makes me so happy to read how successful her first night was. ♥ You can read the review below, and stay tuned here + on twitter, as we are about to start covering day 2 at the Café!
“It’s funny ‘cause it’s true!” That idea was most eloquently expressed by that eminent sage and philosopher, Krusty the Clown; but the reverse is also true: some ideas are especially meaningful because they’re anything but true. Dianna Agron begins her return engagement at the Carlyle with Nancy Sinatra’s “I’m Not The Loving Kind,” and then proceeds to demonstrate precisely the opposite: through the show, she’s warm, friendly, funny, engaging, and, yes, loving. The Glee star is also highly musical, and to that end she put together a first-rate seven piece band, with three rhythm (including her major accompanist Gill Landry, on guitar), three strings (with arrangements by Margot, on violin) and the inimitable Jeffrey Miller on trombone as a one man brass section. The repertoire is equally ambitious, with songs ranging in sources from the 1911 “Oh, You Beautiful Doll” to one of Bruce Springsteen’s most affecting ballads, “If I Should Fall Behind.” Most of the set list derives from her “foremothers,” those blonde chanteusi of decades past, including Miss Sinatra, Doris Day (“You Belong to Me”), Nico and the Velvet Underground (“These Days,” “After Hours”) and two slices of Peggy Lee’s repertoire, one of her most obscure (“I Wanna Be Seduced”) and one of her most famous (“Is That All There Is”). The latter is delivered in a combination of spoken word and sung, but both set to the tune of an out-of-kilter waltz that suggests a walk on the Weill side. She and Margot also duet rather adorably on Roger Edens’s “charm song” “On How to be Lovely” (from Funny Face), and she also finds her individual own way to be self-deflatingly seductive on “I Want to Be Evil” on the very spot where Eartha Kitt delivered it a dozen years ago. Like the best current Carlyle headliners – Steve Tyrell in particular is a master at this – Ms. Agron makes the evening feel less like a formal performance and more like a private party; if we don’t happen to be close personal friends of her when we walk in, we more than feel that way by the time we leave. To promote her Café Carlyle run, Dianna did a photoshoot and interview with New York Moves Magazine last week. They just released a short video clip taken on the day, previewing the soon to be released interview! In our gallery, you can also find a couple of behind the scenes photos from her visit.

Dianna kicked off her two-week long residency at the Café Carlyle last night, and according to some of our friends who were in attendance, it was a very successful evening! I have RTed opinions, fan photos, videos and more from the night over at our twitter account, for those who want to check it out. Dianna wore a stunning black Gucci dress with floral patterns, and her hair and make-up was done by Brittan White and Joseph Carrillo as per usual! While I still hope more photos will be uploaded to the web soon, I have now added the first 7 high quality photos to our gallery for you (and they’re so beautiful!). For those who want even more great content from Dianna’s opening night, our friends over at Dianna Agron Fans have shared several clips from her show.
For those interested, Dianna’s setlist for her 2019 residency is as follows: Not the lovin’ kind, These Days, Oh! You Beautiful Doll, Perfect Day, You Belong to Me, Who Do You Love, Sha la la Song, I wanna be Seduced, Is that all there is?, Oh how to be lonely, I want to be evil, After hours, Don’t, Dream a little dream of me, If I should fall behind, True love will find you.

During her visit at BUILD series last week, Dianna did a gorgeous portrait photoshoot at their studios. I have been waiting for high quality outtakes to appear online, but unfortunately it looks like we will just have to settle for medium quality for the time being – they’re still really stunning! She was photographed in front of both a black and a pink screen, and the result is very pretty. Check out the 5 released portraits in our gallery, and keep checking back as I hope to eventually replace them with HQs! Soon I’ll also share more exclusive old outtakes, but I’m unfortunately still waiting for my computer to be repaired.

Dianna kicks of her two-week long residency at the Café Carlyle TONIGHT, and for the occasion, Nylon Magazine have shared a great new article on our girl. Read it below or at the source, and get ready for plenty of updates here and on twitter, as we get ready to cover her run at the Café Carlyle!
NYLON – She’s not going to choose a creative lane, because why should she? Dianna Agron doesn’t want to choose between acting and music or acting and anything else; she’ll have it all, thank you. And just like Agron isn’t keeping herself restricted to one career path, she also doesn’t feel like restricting herself to only the biggest projects, and keeps an eye out for engaging, smaller-scale things as well. Agron knows better than anyone else that different moments in time require different creative outlets.
Agron entered the public eye during a very specific moment in time with a very specific project: She became a household name because of her role on the television series Glee (which, if you’re like me, you watched religiously every Tuesday, then every Thursday, then every Tuesday again—until the plot got too complex). She tells me on the phone that the show was everything that she wanted when she first came out to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, because it was something that let her sing, and dance, and act. “When I was a kid, I was watching musicals, so I actually thought that that’s what becoming an actress meant,” she said. Fitting.
As of now, Agron has found out how to quench all of her creative thirsts at once: by diversifying her projects, and often. Tomorrow, she begins a two-week long residency at the Café Carlyle, where she will be singing to a small room of people. After starting her career in a recording studio every week for Glee, and then performing at huge Glee: Live concerts for the show’s fans, she’s just as, if not more, comfortable on a smaller scale. “I forget that there’s ways like this in which I can engage on such a personal level and share this deep, deep love I have for music in an intimate space,” she says. “I know for other people, playing on a big stage in a big arena gives them that big adrenaline rush, but I do find that in a small room.” Read More
Hello Dianna fans! Last week, a new trailer for Dianna’s upcoming film ‘Berlin, I Love You’ hit the web. It mostly features the same clip we’ve already seen of Dianna’s character, but this time from a different angle! We also get a few additional glimpses, making it well worth a watch. From Saban Films, Berlin, I Love You hits theaters and VOD Feb. 8. PS! Make sure to give our great new partner Keira Knightley Fan, dedicated to Dianna’s co-star in the film, a visit!
Deadline – Typical Berlin? “Nothing,” suggests one of the many characters in this new trailer for Berlin, I Love You, is typical in this city.
The fourth in the “Cities of Love” anthology series since the first – New York, I Love You in 2008, followed by Paris (2006) and Rio (2014) installments – Berlin, I Love You features 10 segments of love and romance in the German city.
Twelve directors contribute, including Fernando Eimbcke, Dennis Gansel, Massy Tadjedin, Peter Chelsom, Til Schweiger, Justin Franklin, Dani Levy and Dianna Agron. The film is produced by Claus Clausen and Edda Reiser.
The trailer gives glimpses of the various tales, including one in which Keira Knightley plays a woman trying to help an apparently homeless little boy (Liam Gross). Helen Mirren plays Knightley’s concerned mom. In another, Mickey Rourke puts his odds of a romantic hook-up at 50-50, and seems to beat the house.
Also in the cast: Luke Wilson, Jim Sturgess, Jenna Dewan, Hayden Panettiere, Emily Beecham, Dianna Agron, Diego Luna, Iwan Rheon, and Charlotte Le Bon.
